Brendan Clegg joined Alston & Bird in March 2021 as counsel in the Financial Services & Products Group in Washington, D.C. He focuses his practice on state and federal bank regulatory issues and advises bank and non-bank clients regarding Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) compliance. He also represents bank clients in state and federal enforcement actions.
Before private practice, Brendan served as an attorney in the Enforcement & Compliance Division of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), conducting investigations and working on enforcement actions against national banks and their officers and directors. Brendan obtained his B.A. in Political Science & History, magna cum laude, from Colgate University and his J.D., summa cum laude, from William & Mary Law School. He is recognized in the 2021 edition of The Best Lawyers in America© “Ones to Watch” for his work in Banking and Finance Law.
